Our 3rd Grade Turkey Project
J's 3rd grade class had an optional family project to decorate a turkey. They gave us a large piece of paper with the outline of the turkey. J had the idea of creating a steampunk turkey with a window in it's belly with gears and such. I had the idea of using cardboard as a medium to make it 3D. S brainstormed with J on ideas and finished it off with some details (not shown). The belly swings open on a pivot (the round dot of the right turkey wing) to reveal the window and J and I drew the gears inside (not shown). Both the window and the eye are backlit with LEDs that J put together. Of course, we were scrambling to complete it by the deadline and it's now hanging in J's class, so we don't have photos of the final piece with all the details, but here it is as we neared completion.
Love it!
